Random thoughts on Mass Extinction

The rage

The rage that one can feel at any given moment

Is something unexplored in this life.

It is not something we readily understand,

For it is something we can not yet explain.

A lot like science.

What we know about science is what we know so far.

Science is ever changing and so is life.

We have no idea what's ahead say 500 years from now.

We have even less of an idea of what happens 1,000 years from now.

Do we dare say 1,000,000 years from now?

Lets get even crazier and say 10,000,000 years from now.

In ten, life on the surface would be recognizable no more.

Now lets go to 100,000,000 years.

All has been replaced and removed from the surface.

There are no recognizable signs of carbon based life.

Everything we ever knew is gone, completely.

In the fossil record this is possible.

It's called Mass Extinction.

Since multicellular life has been in existence, 550,000,000 years,

There have been five major mass extinctions of life.

Meaning five times, every hundred million years or so,

60 to 90 percent of all living things on earth suddenly disappeared..

These events have been connected mostly to an extra terrestrial impact,

Of some sort, or another..

But the problem lies in that the impacts really don't account for the massive loss of life.

Something else had to have been going on.

Volcanic eruptions. Plate Tectonics. Climate change.

Many things we still don't know.

Many things we still don't know.

And so to all my friends I say, pay more attention to the world around you, instead of the people around you.
